Phil Jackson Can’t See Andrew Bynum Playing In Season Opener

As they always have been, the Los Angeles Lakers are taking the cautious approach in getting Andrew Bynum's knee healthy. Today, during his pre-training camp media session, coach Phil Jackson said he didn't expect Bynum to play in the October 26 regular-season opener.

Will Bynum play in the season opener, Oct. 26 against Houston? "I don't see how Andrew's going to be ready," Phil Jackson said.

Bynum, of course, had knee surgery delayed this summer so he could travel to the World Cup. Even so, he was on line to recover before the start of the season, but Jackson stressed that the team would take it slowly with him to build to May and June.
