The Denver Nuggets began to pull-away towards the end of the first quarter, only to see Mario Chalmers hit a three at the buzzer to bring the Miami Heat within three after the first 12 minutes. Playing without LeBron James, sidelined with an ankle injury, the Heat turned to Chris Bosh and he’s responded. Bosh’s eight first quarter points led the way for the Heat, keeping them close as they weathered the early Denver storm.

Carmelo Anthony, played amid a never-ending chorus of trade rumors, has team-high eight points for the Nuggets on 3-9 shooting from the floor. Nene added six points and a team-high six rebounds as the secondary scorer. The bench even got in on the action, with four players combining 10 points thus far.
Outside of Bosh, it’s been slow going for the Heat, with Dwyane Wade adding five points. James Jones, LeBron’s replacement, had three first quarter points.
