This game between the Suns and the Knicks was supposed to be a battle between former teammates Amar’e Stoudemire and Steve Nash. Instead, Vince Carter caught fire, leading the Suns to a 129-121 win.
Suns Vs. Knicks: Vince Carter Steals The Show As Suns Overcome Amar’e Stoudemire In 129-121 Win
Carter scored 29 points in the game and also grabbed 12 rebounds. With the Suns clinging to a 109-106 lead, Carter hit a driving layup and nailed a three-point shot to push the lead to 114-108. After the two teams traded hoops, Channing Frye put the game away with a three-pointer from the top of the key, and the Knicks never threatened again.
Stoudemire certainly did his part in the showdown with Nash, but it wasn’t enough. He scored 41 points in the game, carving up whatever Suns big man guarded him. But his teammates didn’t quite give him enough help. Wilson Chandler had 23 points and Danilo Gallinari added 17, but Raymond Felton struggled in his matchup with Nash, going 3-13 for just seven points and five turnovers.
The Suns countered with a balanced effort. Carter had 29 points, Grant Hill added 25 and Frye had 18. Nash ended up with 15 points and 11 assists, while Robin Lopez chipped in with 12.
