Shaquille O'Neal and Ray Allen may have a combined 32 years of NBA experience, but their long teeth didn't stop them from leading a Boston Celtics comeback over the Detroit Pistons for a 86-82 win. The Celtics' defense was brilliant throughout, and Shaq (12 points, 12 rebounds) scored seven in the fourth to set up Allen's usual dramatics.
Celtics Vs. Pistons: Shaquille O’Neal Leads Comeback, Ray Allen Finishes Detroit
When Allen goes into the Hall of Fame, forget about a bust or a plaque. They should train some kittens to run his signature play over and over again: Ray goes all the way across the court to get a screen, curls, rises and nails it. Just like he did in his tie-breaking, game-winning three-pointer against Detroit.
Paul Pierce had 22 points too, and that was Rajon Rondo's eighth assist. Kevin Garnett played a spare 30 minutes, and wasn't terribly effective on offense (5-14). But defense matters too, and Boston held Detroit to 42 percent shooting.
