After scoring just four points in the first half, Kobe Bryant took over in the third quarter, putting up 14 points as the Lakers turned a three-point halftime deficit into a 10 point lead. Bryant took just four shots in the first half, making two, but blew it open to start the second, hitting six of 10 shots as the Lakers outscored the Nuggets 33-20 in the period.

Carmelo Anthony had a slow third as his shooting woes continued. For the game, Anthony has hit just six of 19 shots for 15 points. Aaron Afflalo still leads the Nuggets with 19 points. Chauncey Billups is also in double-figures with 12.
After none of the Lakers hit double-figures in the first half, five ended up there after the third. Bryant’s 18 points lead the way, with Ron Artest adding 12, Pau Gasol adding 15 and Andrew Bynum with 11. Lamar Odom has 12 points off the bench. Gasol also has a game-high 12 rebounds.
After three quarters, the surging Lakers lead the Nuggets, 82-72.
