Trevor Ariza Still Totally Not Bitter About Leaving The Lakers

Trevor Ariza grew up in Los Angeles, won a high school state championship in Los Angeles, attended U.C.L.A. and, eventually, won a title with the L.A. Lakers. Then? The Lakers, fresh off that championship, decided they rather give Ariza's salary to Ron Artest. Ariza went to the Houston Rockets, L.A. won another ring, and all was forgotten.

Or not.

In a sprawling and fun interview with FanHouse’s Sam Amick, Ariza says he’s not bitter about how things ended in L.A., with the rangy forward being made out as the greedy and ungrateful money-grubber. He’s not bitter at all.

FH: But they claimed they offered you [a contract before signing Artest], did they not?

TA: Whatever. Say what you want. They’re going to say what they want, I don’t care. I know what happened. They know what happened. ... I’m not mad about it. I don’t care. That’s fine. But don’t try to make me out to be the bad guy, like I’m this money-hungry, greedy person when that wasn’t the case. It’s crazy. I know the truth, and they know the truth.

Ariza's Hornets are currently slated to meet the Lakers in the second round. Wouldn't that be a fun, not-at-all bitter return?
