Clippers Vs. Mavericks: Tyson Chandler, J.J. Barea Forget Who They Are, Shred L.A.

The Dallas Mavericks had a great night on offense in a 112-105 win over the L.A. Clippers on Tuesday. As you'd expect, Dirk Nowitzki and Jason Terry put up big numbers -- 20 and 28 points, respectively. But if you were asked to guess Dallas' two other top scorers on this night, how long would it take you to get to Tyson Chandler and J.J. Barea? Well, now that the names have been revealed, it probably wouldn't take long at all. Whatever.

Tyson Chandler scored a season-high 21 points and J.J. Barea added 25 off the bench as the Mavericks came back from a 15-point deficit to beat the Clippers, who missed Eric Gordon, who will miss three weeks due to a chipped bone in his sprained wrist. Blake Griffin played 35 minutes, surviving a vicious attack from Brendan Haywood on a breakaway dunk attempt to score 22 points and tally 11 rebounds. The Clips had a whopping 22 turnovers, seven of them by veteran point guard Baron Davis.

The Mavericks have now won three of four since losing six straight, and remain right in the thick of the race for the No. 3 spot in the West. To catch the L.A. Lakers for No. 2, Dallas needs help from, well, the Lakers. Whatever pipe dreams the Clippers had in terms of making the playoffs died with Gordon's injury; they shall be content to compete in the interim.
