Thunder Vs. Wolves: Kevin Durant’s 47 Just Enough To Edge Minnesota

Kevin Durant scored 47 points, and the Oklahoma City Thunder needed every last one of them to beat the Minnesota Timberwolves 118-117 in overtime. The stepback jumper at the end of this clip gave the Thunder a 118-116 lead with 28 seconds left in overtime.

But Minnesota drew breath when Kevin Love (surprise!) rebounded a Michael Beasley misfire. Love missed the putback attempt, but Thabo Sefolosha fouled Corey Brewer on the ensuing scrum for the game-deciding rebound. Brewer went to the line with a chance for the tie with seven seconds left. He made the first, missed the second ... and Minnesota got the rebound! But Luke Ridnour missed the game-winning three-pointer. (Ricky Rubio totally would have made it.)

From the midpoint of the fourth quarter on, neither team led by more than four points. In fact, the Thunder led by four just once in that span, and for just a brief spell. This was an edge-of-your-couch affair, the type of game that, if players hit their free throws, ends up in triple-overtime.

Love had 31 points and 21 rebounds on the night. In the second half and overtime, Durant ended up scoring 36 points on 19 shots, which is rather incredible. Jonny Flynn got 15 minutes of action, but produced just two points and three assists.
