Kevin Garnett Bleeding From Pau Gasol Elbow; Staples Center Plays ‘Sunday Bloody Sunday’

Boston Celtics forward Kevin Garnett left in the second quarter against the Boston Celtics after taking an inadvertent elbow in the head from Los Angeles Lakers forward Pau Gasol. The impact occurred during a rebound.

Garnett, with his bald head quickly bloodied, slumped over as Rajon Rondo crossed halfcourt so Doc Rivers could call for a timeout. Team medical personnel looked at him for a moment before leading him into the locker room with a towel impeding the blood.

The Staples Center chronicled the moment by playing U2’s “Sunday Bloody Sunday” over the P.A. Today is indeed Sunday, and that’s surely the only reason they’d play that song as the most physical member of their hated rivals left the court.

Garnett quickly returned to the court with a huge butterfly bandaid and some strips on his skull, re-entering the game shortly after. He’ll need to get stitches after the game for the cut. Seriously that’s the biggest bandaid I’ve ever seen.
