Before the Miami Heat wiped the floor with the Cleveland Cavaliers Monday night 117-90, LeBron James was asked if he felt some form of vindication while his former team suffered through a 20+ game losing streak. Showing admirable restraint and presence of mind for King James, he said he took no pleasure in watching his former team, and fans, suffer.
Heat Vs. Cavs: Victorious LeBron Takes No Pleasure In Cavs’ Collapse
“It didn’t matter for me if the Cavs were going to have a successful season or not,” James said. “I felt like I was making the right choice for me as an individual and for my career. Like I said, I have nothing bad to say about the players that I left and the team. I wish the organization the best. And I wish the fans, more than anything, the best because we had a lot of great years together.”
Of course, you could also take that first sentence, “It didn’t matter for me if the Cavs were going to have a successful season or not,” and apply LeBron’s trademark narcissism to it. And I suppose it’s there. But with the King, you have to allow for baby steps.
LeBron James scored 24 points and added eight assists against his former team as the Heat improved to 3-0 over his former squad.
