Allen Iverson To Host NBA Lockout Tournament In Las Vegas
Allen Iverson announced he is hosting a four-team tournament in Las Vegas with some big NBA names.
The former NBA MVP will host a tournament featuring a collection of NBA players in Las Vegas on Nov. 12-13. Iverson, Kevin Durant, Amar'e Stoudemire, Paul Pierce and expected to headline the "Las Vegas Superstar Challenge," which will feature four teams and be streamed online.
Earlier this week, Yahoo! Sports’ Marc Spears reported that the four teams will each be selected by captains, including Iverson. The tournament-style element gives the event a new twist on the pro-am and charity games that have popped up around the country because of the lack of NBA schedule.
Of course, as @Jose3030 quipped, since it’s Iverson in charge, practice will be optional. In fact, the game times on Nov. 12 will be coordinated to allow participants to attend the Manny Pacquiao-Juan Marquez, according to Spears.
