NBA Rumors: Warriors Again In Market For Big Man

The Golden State Warriors have been looking for help in the frontcourt since Nate Thurmond retired -- that's only a small exaggeration -- so it's no surprise that as NBA free agency approaches the Warriors are reported to be in the market for one of this class' top centers and power forwards.

From Rusty Simmons of the San Francisco Chronicle:

[The Warriors] want to make a push to acquire a big man, such as Tyson Chandler, Samuel Dalembert, Marc Gasol, DeAndre Jordan or Nene.

That type of splash would be tough, because the team will go into the year about $6 million under the salary cap if they don't dump some expensive players.

Simmons also reports that the team doesn't want to waive center Andris Biedrins ($9 million cap figure); unless Golden State sends David Lee ($11.6 million) or Biedrins off, the team isn't getting Chandler, Gasol or Nene. Those are eight-figure players.

The Warriors signed Lee, a one-time All-Star with the New York Knicks, to a six-year, $80 million deal in 2010. He had a disappointing first season in Oakland.
