Gregg Popovich quotes tend to be some of the most interesting words posted on this side of the internet, but the NBA lockout caused quite the hiatus from the San Antonio Spurs head coach. Popovich was back at it on Tuesday, however, unleashing some gold while talking about Gary Neal's recent appendectomy.

What exactly did the wily ol’ head coach have to say? Back in Pop’s day, for starters, one was apparently able to shovel snow the day after having his appendix removed -- at least according to his quotes from Mike Monroe’s Wednesday morning column.
“They took out his appendix,” Popovich said. “He didn’t come to practice.
”Remember when we got our appendixes taken out? Next day, we were out shoveling snow. He gets his appendix out, he’s lying in bed: ‘It hurts, Coach. I can’t do anything.’
“I sent him a little card. It had a doe on it, a little deer. It smelled of flowers and everything. I wanted him to know we were thinking about him. If I was worth anything, I would have thought of sending ice cream with it, just to make him happier.”
It really would have been nice if Coach Popovich sent ice cream, I guess, but that’s neither here nor there.
