After striking out in his hopes of securing a long-term contract, Kris Humphries has signed a one-year contract to return to the New Jersey Nets, according to Yahoo! Sports' Adrian Wojnarowski. Terms of the deal remain unclear, but with the money drying up around the league, it appears Humphries has decided to play out this season and try again next year.

Humphries, who will turn 27 in February, had a career year last season for the Nets, averaging a double double with 10 points and 10.4 rebounds per contest. He stopped all aspirations of being an offensive player and focused on rebounding, causing him to have his best year. The Nets have a gaping hole at power forward next to Brook Lopez, so Humphries is expected to start right away. Right now, his only competition is Shelden Williams.
