Clippers Begin Season As A Work In Progress

The new-look Los Angeles Clippers got off to a rocky start, struggling with the Golden State Warriors in the early goings and heading into the half trailing by two. In the fourth quarter, Chris Paul and Blake Griffin took over and the end result was a resounding 105-86 win.

It was a solid start to what’s expected to be a great season. However, the Clippers realize they’ve still got a long way to go, as Sam Amick of SI.com notes:

Paul finishing with 20 points (7-of-12 shooting), nine assists and just two turnovers. But the first 44 minutes gave Clippers coach Vinny Del Negro plenty to think about, as the Clippers either matched or surpassed the Warriors in all the wrong areas and hardly looked like a team worthy of an elite billing.

The Clippers owned a size advantage at the guard spot that allowed them shut down Monta Ellis and Stephen Curry, keeping them in the game. However, they'll want to figure out what caused Paul and Chauncey Billups to get off to such a slow start if they want to compete with the likes of the rival Los Angeles Lakers this year.
