Bulls Vs. Warriors: Monta Ellis, Stephen Curry Stun Chicago As Golden State Wins 99-91

Monta Ellis and Stephen Curry outplayed Derrick Rose as the Golden State Warriors beat the Chicago Bulls 99-91 on Monday.

The Golden State Warriors' vaunted backcourt of Monta Ellis and Stephen Curry did exactly what they are advertised to do on Monday: score the ball. Ellis scored 26 on 10-17 shooting and Curry added 21 on 7-12 as the Warriors stunned the visiting Chicago Bulls 99-91. Ellis added seven assists, and Curry had 10. Each saw those numbers boosted by David Lee, who had a second solid game with 22 points and seven rebounds.

Reigning MVP Derrick Rose had a rough night, shooting 4-17 from the floor against a team hardly known for its defense. Rose did contribute eight assists against three turnovers. The Bulls turned to Luol Deng to pick up the scoring load. The forward put in 22 on 10-15 shooting with 10 rebounds. As a team, the Bulls had an uncharacteristic 20 turnovers in 98 possessions. Of those 20, a whopping 16 were Warriors' steals. Curry had six himself.

The warm fuzzies could be short-lived for Golden State, as Curry limped off of the floor late. He turned his surgically repaired right ankle in preseason a week ago, and had been less than 100 percent coming into the season. Continuing the play on the ankle, despite Monday’s strong production.

Both teams now stand at 1-1.
