The Denver Nuggets were down two with just seconds to go in the fourth quarter on Saturday, and had a clean break following a Kobe Bryant miss. Danilo Gallinari was ahead of the pack and in the open court, with an almost wide-open layup for the tie. You'd think we'd be talking about overtime right about now.

Except Gallinari pulled off one of the better derps you’ll see to close the year. Maybe it was the guard flying by him, causing a distraction. Maybe he didn’t get his work in during the pregame layup line. Whatever the reason, Gallinari will find himself immortalized on blooper reels for a while.

Also of note: The announcer calls Gallinari’s layup attempt “unmolested.” Interesting choice of words, but all right! That’s one way to get the point across.
And with that miss, the Nuggets squandered an excellent chance to knock off the Lakers, falling 92-89. So close, yet so far.
