Jerry Sloan Resigns, Ending A Tenure That Began Before 37 Current NBA Players Were Born
Jerry Sloan will step down as head coach of the Utah Jazz, a position he's held since December 9, 1988, some 22 years ago. That's a really long time! So long, in fact, that 37 current NBA players, including two who have played for Sloan, weren't even born when the Jazz made Sloan their head coach.
Those players, in no particular order ...
Derrick Favors, Xavier Henry, Al-Farouq Aminu, Avery Bradley, DeMarcus Cousins, Paul George, the Utah Jazz's own Gordon Hayward!, Jrue Holiday, Greg Monroe, John Wall, James Anderson, Luke Babbitt, DeJuan Blair, Eric Bledsoe, Ed Davis, DeMar DeRozan, Devin Ebanks, Tyreke Evans, Christian Eyenga, Jonny Flynn, Blake Griffin, James Harden, Manny Harris, Serge Ibaka, Brandon Jennings, Armon Johnson, former Utah Jazz center Kosta Koufos!, Byron Mullens, Patrick Patterson, Anthony Randolph, Kevin Seraphin, Willie Warren, Hassan Whiteside, Nicolas Batum, Michael Beasley, Eric Gordon and Samardo Samuels.
That list includes an All-Star (Griffin); a few other huge stars like Kevin Durant (nine weeks old when Sloan took over) and Derrick Rose (eight weeks old) just missed the cut-off. Think about that: Blake Griffin has never before today known a world in which Jerry Sloan wasn't the coach of the Utah Jazz. It's simply incredible.
