LeBron James, Dwyane Wade, And The Miami Heat—Explained By Chris Rock

Dwyane Wade scored 41 points to beat the Pacers on Tuesday night, and the Miami Heat moved 40-15, good for a first place tie with the Boston Celtics. LeBron James added 27 points, and at one point, the two superstars connected for this play, which was pretty surreal:

So, yeah: Despite a slow start, it’s pretty clear that things are working out for Wade and LeBron in Miami. Nevertheless, in an interview with Esquire’s resident anti-LeBron-zealot, Chris Rock says he wishes LeBron had gone elsewhere:

I mean, I wish he'd have went to the Clippers, to tell you the truth. ... Because he'd have got his weather, and he could've really had his team. The whole him and Wade thing is a little odd to me.

And there’s also his take on the Pat Riley conundrum with Miami’s coaching situation:

Wade actually has an interesting — he won a championship with Riley, and he lost 60 games with Riley. Wade doesn’t feel like practicing like that ever again in his life. He loves Pat Riley, he takes Pat Riley’s money, but he does not want to play for Pat Riley. And LeBron thinks he wants to play for Pat Riley.

On the other hand, they’d win the championship with Pat Riley as coach.

There’s a lot more on LeBron over at Esquire, and the general interview with Chris Rock is pretty awesome, as well. Even though he seems incapable of making decent movies, he’s one of the funniest comics of this generation, and honestly, I wish he would talk sports more often:

Why would you think he’s coming back? People move from Cleveland to Miami every fucking day. They don’t move from Miami to Cleveland. It’s Miami. Dude, they’re on the fucking beach right now. ... Dude, they’re on the beach right now, in fucking sandals. And by the way, most people from Cleveland would do the exact same thing.

And I’m still curious about what he was saying to Kobe here...
