Corey Brewer Signs With Mavericks For Three Years, $7 Million
Corey Brewer has signed a three-year contract with the Dallas Mavericks, the team announced on Thursday. The Dallas Morning News reports that the deal is worth $7 million; the Mavericks were able to sign Brewer, a fourth-year wing, for more than the veteran’s minimum despite being over the salary cap because the team didn’t use its mid-level exception in the offseason.
Brewer is one of the league’s least reliable offensive players (unless you’re relying on missed shots), but has some defensive chops and is very athletic. The Minnesota Timberwolves, who unloaded him as the third wheel in the New York Knicks’ trade for Carmelo Anthony, made Brewer the No. 7 pick in the 2007 NBA Draft over his college teammate Joakim Noah.
