The Dallas Mavericks are still within striking range at the half, trailing the Los Angeles Lakers by three, 54-51. Dallas survived a three-man onslaught in the first half as Kobe Bryant, Pau Gasol and Andrew Bynum took over for the Lakers, scoring 36 of the 54 points. Dallas struck back with bench scoring as its reserves scored 14 points to Los Angeles’ seven.
Lakers Vs. Mavericks Score: Los Angeles Takes Slim Halftime Lead, 54-51
Pau Gasol led the way for the Lakers with 13 points. Kobe Bryant added 12 points, with Andrew Bynum chipping in 11. Ron Artest had seven points on 3-5 shooting and dished out a team-high five assists in the first half. Lamar Odom had a team-high five first half rebounds.
For the Mavs, it was all about Dirk Nowitzki on the offensive end. Nowitzki finished the half with a team-high 14 points. Tyson Chandler had seven points and eight rebounds. Peja Stojakovic and Brian Cardinal came off the bench to make an impact, scoring eight and six points, respectively.
