Dwyane Wade Is Wearing Colorful Socks And More NBA Fashion Insight
According to the designers and stylists surveyed by the Los Angeles Times’ Adam Tschorn, David Stern’s controversial dress code raised the tide of NBA fashion. Players who used to look suave in suits had to step up their game to stay ahead of the pack. So began a GQ arms race.
The best line in the piece regards Kobe Bryant, whose stylist says "has broad shoulders and a narrow chest -- kind of a runway look." (Real runway, right Kobe?) But the look forward to Dwyane Wade's playoff sartorial splendor is magnificent in its own way.
Here’s his stylist, Calyann Barnett, with the preview (though we’re a couple games in):
“We’re going with even more colorful pocket squares, and we’ve shortened his pants hem, so look for tons and tons of colorful socks - and suspenders,” Barnett says. “And he started wearing this diamond lapel pin made by Jason of Beverly Hills, so you’ll definitely see that.”
Keep an eye out for those colorful socks, NBA fans.
