In the second half of Game 4, the Blazers have encountered a cold stream that has all but knocked them out of this game, while he Mavericks have started hitting from three-point range. What was once a close game has developed into a rout, as the Mavericks lead by a 67-49 score after three quarters.
Blazers Vs. Mavericks Score: Dallas Builds Huge Lead As Portland’s Shooting Falls Flat
The Mavs’ Dirk Nowitzki now has 16 points, and Shawn Marion has secured a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds. The Mavericks outscored the Blazers in the third quarter, 30-14, after leading by only two points at halftime.
The real story of the third quarter, though, was Portland’s terrible shooting. In fact, the Blazers went nearly an entire quarter without landing a single field goal. Mercifully, LaMarcus Aldridge sank a hook shot with 1:31 remaining in the quarter. A couple of field goals in the final minute mitigated the damage.
The Blazers are looking at an 18-point deficit, and only 12 minutes left to erase it. We’ll see if they can find a way to do so in front of the friendly Rose Garden crowd.
