The Los Angeles Lakers extended their marginal halftime lead in the third quarter, pushing the advantage to seven-point heading into the fourth quarter, 79-72. It's been a team effort for the Lakers, with four of the five starters in double-figures and the fifth knocking on the door. Kobe Bryant shook off a slow start and has been electrifying since the second quarter began, much to the New Orleans Hornets' dismay.

Bryant has a team-high 17 points thus far, including two vicious dunks. Pau Gasol has 14 points, Derek Fisher has 13 and Andrew Bynum has 12. Derek Fisher has also been effective with nine points through three quarters. Bynum has a team-high eight rebounds to go along with his 12 points.
Trevor Ariza has paced the Hornets with 22 points through the first 36 minutes. Chris Paul already has a double-double with 14 points and 11 assists. Marco Belinelli was also in double-figures with 13 points.
