Kobe Bryant scored 13 points on 4-6 shooting in the second quarter to help the Los Angeles Lakers to a 47-40 halftime lead over the Denver Nuggets at Staples Center. Bryant has 19 for the game; he shot 2-9 in the first quarter, but was also to hit his shots in the second. He's taken a third of the Lakers' attempts from the floor, and seven of their nine free throws.
Nuggets Vs. Lakers Score: Kobe Bryant Gets Hot To Boost L.A. To 47-40 Halftime Lead
Denver is cold, shooting an awful 29.5 percent from the floor through two quarters. But Danilo Gallinari is doing his best to keep the Nuggets in the game. Gallinari was 18 points on 5-10 shooting in 22 minutes. Denver's other four starters have scored a combined 12 points on 4-19 shooting. Raymond Felton played 13 minutes off the bench, and shot 0-6. Al Harrington has six points.
If there's hope for Denver beyond Gallinari, it's that the Nuggets have picked up eight offensive rebounds in 30 opportunities. If Nene can crash the glass better, Denver could make up for its awful shooting. But the Nuggets will need to stop Kobe, too, and keep Andrew Bynum (four offensive rebounds, 12 overall) from doing damage inside.
