Wouldn't it be ironic if the Miami Heat skirt potential tampering violations for improper contact in bringing LeBron James, Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh together last summer while the Chicago Bulls get nailed for their offseason moves? It would be lame, of course, and it probably won't happen.
Carlos Boozer Told Bulls Players He Wanted To Play For Them Last Year
But then again, here's Carlos Boozer telling the Chicago Tribune that he talked to Joakim Noah and Derrick Rose about playing for the Bulls last season. This would normally be no big deal ... except he was under contract with the Utah Jazz at the time.
"I just told Jo that if I leave Utah, this is where I want to come,'' Boozer said. "I was like, 'You and I could lock down the middle. D-Rose's potential is through the roof. And Luol (Deng) is a versatile as anybody.' ... We can ride out and do some good things.''
Meanwhile, Rose admitted that Boozer reached out to him a month before last season ended to be in touch about “joining forces.” Get your pitchforks ready, everyone!
In all seriousness, Boozer probably gets off here because he used the “if I leave Utah” qualifier, even though that isn’t much of a qualifier given what we know about his situation in Utah last season. Truth be told, tampering charges are really hard to prove anyway, and now that we’re a year into this process, it’s probably best to just sit back, stop crying over spilled milk and enjoy the most-watched Eastern Conference Finals series (so far) in cable TV history.
