Lakers Vs. Mavericks, Game 1: Dallas Comes From Behind Late To Grab 96-94 Victory

The Mavericks’ 96-94 victory over the Lakers in Los Angeles in Game 1 of their Western Conference Semifinals series was a bit unexpected, but the role unheralded reserve Corey Brewer played in the victory might have been the biggest surprise. Brewer came off the bench to score five points in just eight minutes, but his energy helped spark the Mavs in the second half.

The teams finished with identical 57-25 records during the regular season, but the Lakers won the season series, 2-1, to earn home-court advantage in the first playoff meeting between the teams since 1988.

The Mavericks came into Monday’s game with an 0-10 mark on the road against the Lakers in the playoffs.

Unfortunately, that duo also gave away four points to the Lakers right before the half. Terry fouled Odom while launching a 70-foot jumper at the buzzer. Dirk followed that up by giving away a technical foul as the Lakers went into the locker-room with four freebie foul shots.
