Heat Vs. Mavericks, Game 1 Update: Third Quarter Underway, Dallas Jumps Out To Big Lead

After just two minutes in the third quarter, the Miami Heat have already had to call timeout to slow down the momentum of the Dallas Mavericks, who have come out of the locker room with a completely different level of focus than their opponents. Their defense has denied Miami quality looks inside, while Mike Bibby missed his fourth open three-point attempt of the evening. On the other end, the Mavericks have scored eight points, and not on particularly tough shots.

The basket that caused Erik Spoelstra to call the timeout was a three-pointer from DeSean Stevenson where the Mavs' guard was completely unguarded. As a result of the Mavs' run to start the quarter, they're leading by a score of 51-43, and that eight point margin is their biggest lead of the evening.
