Ricky Rubio is still not willing to confirm published reports that he has reached an agreement to play with the Minnesota Timberwolves for the 2011-12 season. In an interview with the Associated Press following Barcelona's victory over Bilbao to win the Spanish league title on Tuesday, Rubio would only say that people will "soon see" if an agreement can be reached.
Ricky Rubio Remains Non-Committal About Whether He’ll Play For Minnesota Timberwolves In 2011-12 Season
Recent comments made by Minnesota Timberwolves draft pick Ricky Rubio have raised questions about his future, despite reports earlier this month that his NBA arrival was imminent.
"We are talking with Barcelona and we will soon see," Rubio said after Barcelona beat Bilbao for the Spanish league title on Tuesday night.
Multiple outlets reported that Rubio and the Timberwolves had reached an agreement a couple weeks ago. The Timberwolves were unwilling to confirm the news until they could introduce Rubio later in June.
The Timberwolves needed to reach an agreement prior to May 31 if they wanted to keep Rubio on his rookie-scale contract. If they were not able to do that, Rubio can sign for more money, though he is handcuffed by the current Collective Bargaining Agreement uncertainty.
