NBA Lockout Central, Brought To You By ... Oscar Robertson?

The NBA lockout has jokes, improbable centers of knowledge, head-shaking web design and now, delicious irony! Via @soupydavis, the front page of NBA.com, scrubbed of current players, now features a fairly prominent photo of Oscar Robertson.

You know, the Oscar Robertson who led the NBA’s players union in its greatest and most important battle ever: the one that resulted in the creation of free agency.

No player in NBA history represents labor power quite like Big O. The landmark case that led to the creation of NBA free agency is known as Robertston vs. National Basketball Association, and ran parallel to Major League Baseball’s Flood vs. Kuhn. Oscar is, of course, one of the greatest players in history -- and yeah, those ‘71 Bucks were awesome, NBA.com! -- but he has a very specific, very well-known identity in the context of labor relations.

To have his photo directly below NBA’s Pravda Labor Central hub is just too much to take. I wonder what the Big O would say about this.
