Paul Pierce’s 2011 World Series Of Poker Run Is Over
Paul Pierce's run in the 2011 World Series of Poker Main Event is over. The Boston Celtics' superstar lasted for a long time at Day 2 of the tournament, even building up his chip stack to one of the larger ones in the room. By night time, though, Pierce had lost most of his chips, and was forced to go all-in with a pair of 2s. His opponent had a pair of jacks, and that was that.
All in all, Pierce outlasted over half of the 2,031 players who were still alive in the tournament, as well as most of the 6,865 players who entered in the first place. That’s not too shabby.
You’ll eventually be able to see Pierce playing on TV, since he was on the secondary featured table with Dennis Phillips, who made a name for himself by advancing deep in the 2008 and 2009 World Series of Poker main events. The above picture comes from this interview with Poker News, in which Pierce reveals that he learned how to play online and would consider playing more if the lockout continues.
Of course, to do that, he may need to find some more green clothes for good luck.
