↵↵[Bonzi] Wells had been considered one of the summer’s top free agents, particularly after an extraordinary performance in the Sacramento Kings’ playoff series against the San Antonio Spurs. But when he turned down a five-year, $37 million offer from the Kings, they instead filled the roster spot with John Salmons and Wells quickly ran out of high-dollar options.
↵↵Wells ended up signing for two years, $4.5 million with the Rockets. After turning down that $37 million contract from the Kings, Wells played just two seasons -- and badly -- before taking his talents to China. The Kings dodged that bullet, but still had five (and counting) consecutive losing seasons.
