The Sonics yesterday turned their starting center job over to Calvin Booth, signing the 6-foot-11 restricted free agent, who finished last season with Dallas, to an offer sheet.

The Fort Worth Star-Telegram reported today that the offer was for six years and $34 million. [...]

"I wouldn't compare him to Ichiro, but nobody had heard of him, either," Sonics coach Nate McMillan said last night. "We're young. We plan to play to win."
