Eddy Curry Drops To 300 Pounds, May Return To NBA Soon, According To Report

Just when you thought Eddy Curry was just a punchline, here he is trying to revive his NBA career. You may remember how he tried out for the Miami Heat in April, which was met with a lot of snickering. You also may remember how the Heat left the door open last month, saying they would sign Curry if he lost 40 more pounds.

So far, so good. Curry has apparently lost 28 of those 40 pounds in the last month and only has 12 more to go, according to Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald.

Respected Chicago-based trainer Tim Grover said last week that since Curry’s workout with Miami in late June, he has lost another 28 pounds and is now at 300. Curry weighed 350 when he auditioned for Miami in March.
It’s pretty amusing to think that Curry can lose 28 pounds and still have 12 pounds to go before he can even be considered by an NBA team, but now is not the time for weight jokes. Now is the time to consider whether a slimmed-down Curry may actually be the best center the Heat would have on their roster.

(Answer: probably not, but it’s not too ridiculous, is it? OK, maybe it is).
