Ron Artest Would Fight Shaquille O’Neal, But Only In Boxing, Not In MMA

Shaquille O'Neal has been talking about getting into Mixed Martial Arts for the past few years, but recently made some new news when he followed upon that by mentioning five former NBA players he'd be interested in meeting in an MMA cage. The one current player O'Neal mentioned was Ron Artest with former NBAers Charles Oakley, Charles Barkley, Karl Malone, Xavier McDaniel and Danny Ainge being the five Shaq listed before getting to the current Los Angeles Lakers forward.

The man soon to be known as Metta World Peace says he would fight The Big Aristotle, but only in a boxing match.

Artest took to Twitter on Sunday to talk about O’Neal’s appearance on Inside MMA, saying that he’d be fine fighting O’Neal, but it would have to be in a boxing match rather than an MMA cage so that Artest is able to maximize his earning potential (probably because he’ll be taking a massive pay cut to play in England during the NBA lockout).

I won't do mma with shaq because they don't pay It would have to be boxing Hbo or ppv hbo or showtimeless than a minute ago via Twitter for iPhone Favorite Retweet Reply

My top four boxing matches in the ring only would be Shaq/kimbo slice/Ben Wallace/and klitschko But only boxing And only in the ringless than a minute ago via Twitter for iPhone Favorite Retweet Reply

This would actually be a good chance to make some money during the NBA lockout if he was serious -- a bit like Ray Edwards did during the NFL lockout -- but the Artest vs. Ben Wallace fight would probably be the most interesting for basketball fans.

Not only would a fight against Wallace give Artest the best chance to win considering Shaq’s weight advantage, both Klitschko brothers having way too much experience and Kimbo Slice recently dominating his own boxing debut, but it would also allow some closure from their last altercation in 2004.

I know you’re entrepreneur, Ron Ron, so let’s put it on at Caesar’s Palace, call it Malice at the Palace 2 and sell some tickets. I’ll only request a 10 percent cut for coming up with the name and any additional marketing efforts.
