Lockout Life: Kobe Bryant Allegedly Got Into A Fight At Church

Well, then. That’s not a headline that’s going to win over fans during the NBA lockout.

Indeed, it seems that Kobe Bryant really did get into a tussle at church over the weekend. According to a CBS affiliate in San Diego, “Bryant allegedly grabbed a man’s wrist and cell phone at St. Therese of Carmel in San Diego Sunday.” Now the man claims Kobe injured his wrist (duh).

It all started after Kobe accused the man of secretly taking photos of him and his wife, forcefully grabbing the phone out of the man’s hands. And then it ended when Kobe, uh, found no such photos on the man’s phone. We can only imagine the uncomfortable exchange that followed.

“Uh.... Sorry.”

“What the hell, dude? You just scared the shit outta me.”

“Whoa, watch your language. We’re in church.”

“And you just ATTACKED me in church.”

“Oh, right.”

[awkward silence]

The man says he had to go to a nearby hospital for treatment on his wrist, and police in San Diego are investigating. This is just the latest evidence — we may not have NBA basketball in 2011-12, but damnit, that doesn’t mean we won’t be entertained in its absence.
