The signature sneak for John Wall's sophomore season has been released, and, well, see for yourself:
John Wall’s New Shoe Could Be T-Mac’s Old Shoe
No one really likes the Zig-tech’s trademark sole, so I’m not even going to touch that one for fear of redundancy. Let’s talk about the body of the shoe.
First things first: the holes. Those were fun when they were the latest technological advance in basketball sneaker technology way back in 2003 with the T-Mac II. In this day and age, with Nike’s Flywire technology and Adidas’ Crazy Light line, the Zig-tech line seems hopelessly behind, and the out-of-date hole stylings only reinforce that point.
I do love the color scheme — they reflect the Wizards’ new unis, which are amazing — and what’s not to love about red laces? The predominant signature is a nice touch, as well.
Overall, however, these shoes are sub-par at best. They feel five years old already, even if that would put them, timewise, in John Wall’s junior year of high school. The Zigtech look isn’t winning any new fans. Wall would be better served embracing our new supreme economic overlords and signing with PEAK.
