The new season of Dancing With The Stars debuted on ABC Monday night, and Ron Artest may not have impressed the judges with his cha cha, but he still left a lasting impression on the rest of us. How often do you see an NBA player dressed up like a male stripper?

A hilarious recap is over here, and video of Ron Ron’s Cha-Cha is after the jump.
Before we get to the video, I’d just to like to say that this would’ve been the perfect setting for millions of Americans to get acquainted with Ron’s new name, “Metta World Peace”. Alas... ABC elected to play it safe. Eric Freeman provides some additional notes over at Yahoo! Sports:
The dance: The cha-cha-cha. Of Cuban origin. Contestants also had the option of the Viennese waltz, which World Peace wisely avoided.
The outfit: Red velvet pants, a sparkly vest, a bedazzled fedora, and a blond hairdo with “World Peace” on the back of his head in purple Hebrew.
The song: Like most songs on “DWTS,” it was a cover of a popular song I couldn’t place performed by Western Indiana’s best wedding band.
If there’s no NBA this year, maybe we’ll have an NBA-themed dance competition instead.
