Kyrie Irving’s Foot Injury Is Apparently Still A Problem

You might recall how Kyrie Irving missed most of his only season in college with a foot/toe injury. He came back and played in the NCAA Tournament for Duke, so the Cavaliers, along with pretty much everyone else, felt he was the obvious man to go No. 1 in the 2011 NBA Draft. Problem is, we're now three months removed from the draft, and Irving's foot injury remains an issue.

Tom Reed of the Cleveland Plain Dealer caught up with Irving over the weekend and wrote this (emphasis mine):

Kyrie Irving is a quick study. He’s four courses shy of completing his sophomore year academically at Duke.
But as he makes substantial progress toward a degree in psychology, his basketball education is a bit stalled.
Irving has played just 11 games since last October in part due to a right foot injury -- which doctors tell him won’t completely heal for another three months.

Irving later admitted he rushed back to play in the NCAA Tournament when he wasn’t completely healthy. In a way, he’s lucky that the NBA lockout is ongoing. Imagine him saying this right before Cavaliers training camp. Cavaliers fans would justifiably be going nuts right now.
