The New York Knicks were able to avenge a recent loss to the Charlotte Bobcats at MSG despite awful shooting from Carmelo Anthony and Amar’e Stoudemire. In other action, the New Orleans Hornets handed the Denver Nuggets their first home loss.
Pacers Vs. 76ers: Philadelphia’s Second Team Runs By Indiana 96-86
Vucevic joined Young and Williams in creating an early spark off the bench against the depleted Pacer squad playing without their top scorer (Granger) and backcourt playmaker (Hill). In their minutes at the end of the first quarter and into the second, the Sixers second team erased an early Pacer lead and established control of the scoreboard on the backs of a 21-5 run. For the night, the Sixers bench outscored the Pacers bench 41-19.
Indiana was frisky and brought the game back to deficits of two and one points at a couple of points in the first half, but 76ers coach Doug Collins went back to his productive triumvirate and pushed the advantage back out to five to close out the half strong. When they returned in the second half, Young and Vucevic helped push the lead out to double digits and further the buffer zone for the home team.

It started off badly for New York. Charlotte ran out to a 10-0 lead in the game’s first four possessions, and the boo-birds were back. But the Knicks quickly righted the ship, and went on a 21-6 run themselves. At that point, it seemed that the Knicks might take control of the game and win going away. But to Charlotte’s credit, they battled the whole way.
Worth noting in this game is the Knicks’ three-point shooting, or lack thereof. New York attempted just 10 threes, making just a single one. It was the fewest three point attempts for a Knicks team in D’Antoni’s three plus seasons in New York. It was also the fewest three-pointers made in a Knicks win in that time. Needless to say, D’Antoni is having to adjust his coaching approach to his current personnel.

After a ho-hum start by both by both teams that left the Bulls up just five points with 59.6 seconds remaining in the third quarter, Derrick Rose, Carlos Boozer and Bulls orchestrated a 21-3 run to pave the way for a 92-68 victory. After matching franchise failures over three decades old in the last several games, on this night the Pistons scored their fewest points ever against the Bulls in the entire 260-game head-to-head history between the two teams. After two full games against the Bulls in 2012, Detroit has never held a lead. Brutal.
