Derrick Rose Injury: Bulls Point Guard Could Return Friday Against Celtics

Derrick Rose had to miss the Chicago Bulls' game on Wednesday against the Washington Wizards due to turf toe, but it appears that he will be back in uniform shortly. Whether or not Rose can play simply depends on his pain threshold and when the toe stops hurting enough to allow him to play. Bulls Head Coach Tom Thibodeau sounds optimistic that Rose will be back soon and hopes that he can play Friday against the Boston Celtics.

“It’s a pain tolerance thing. It’s a sprain. He’s gotten a lot of treatment. He usually responds very well to treatment. It’s when the pain subsides when he can play.”

The Bulls signed have veteran Mike James to fill in due to the number of injuries they've suffered in the backcourt. In the absence of Rose as well as fellow guards C.J. Watson and Richard Hamilton, John Lucas III stepped up on Wednesday against Washington and took an unbelievable 28 shots in an ugly 78-64 victory.
