Kwame Brown will undergo surgery after an MRI taken Wednesday found a torn pectoral muscle, the team revealed in a press release. The surgery is expected to keep him sidelined for at least three months. Head coach Mark Jackson expressed his disappointment at the news.
Kwame Brown To Undergo Surgery, Out At Least Three Months
Kwame Brown will undergo surgery to repair a torn pectoral muscle and is expected to miss at least three months, the Golden State Warriors announced Thursday.

"I feel extremely bad for Kwame," Jackson said. "He had done absolutely everything that myself and our coaching staff had asked of him and quickly started to change this team's image on the defensive end of the floor. If you look at the last week, in particular, he had some pretty impressive defensive performances, especially against some of the top scoring big men in the NBA. This is a blow, but Kwame and the Warriors will recover and move forward.
Brown was injured during the fourth quarter of Tuesday's game against the Miami Heat. Andris Biedrins is expected to return to the lineup in due course from a toe/ankle injury, which should soften the blow. Expect rookie Ekpe Udoh to see extra minutes as well. Brown had been averaging 6.3 points and 6.3 rebounds in 20.8 minutes per game.
