Bobcats Vs. Nets: Deron Williams, MarShon Brooks Work Over Charlotte

Deron Williams and MarShon Brooks outdueled the Charlotte Bobcats’ guards as the New Jersey Nets picked up a 97-87 win at home.

Deron Williams and MarShon Brooks showed an ability to work off of each other as the New Jersey Nets topped the Charlotte Bobcats 97-87 at home on Sunday. Williams scored 19 points on 8-17 shooting with 10 assists, nine rebounds (so close!) and six turnovers, while Brooks, a rookie, popped in 20 points on 9-17 shooting with six rebounds. Charlotte, an anemic offensive club, ended up shooting better than New Jersey, but the Nets leaned on a huge advantage on the glass and much better free throw shooting to get the win.

The Nets picked up 16 offensive rebounds in 43 opportunities (37.2 percent), with Kris Humphries tallying six. Charlotte, meanwhile, took in only seven in 38 opportunities (18.4 percent), with Bismack Biyombo grabbing three in his 18 minutes.

The Bobcats' two rookies -- Biyombo and Kemba Walker -- were the bright spots. Biyombo came off of the bench to deliver 11 points on 5-6 shooting with seven rebounds, four blocks, two steals, an assist and just one turnover. Walker started in a three-guard lineup and scored 16 points on 5-13 shooting with six rebounds and four assists.
