Phoenix Suns center Robin Lopez has been suspended for one game by the National Basketball Association for making improper contact with a game official Rodney Mott during Tuesday night's loss to the Toronto Raptors.

Phoenix Suns center Robin Lopez has been suspended one game for making improper contact with a game official.


The 7-foot center from Stanford lost his composure after feeling his was fouled by Raptors Andrea Bargnani on the offensive end. Lopez then picked up a quick foul on the Raptors' next possession. During a timeout, Lopez made no effort to avoid Mott, brushing him with his left shoulder and was promptly ejected with 8:14 remaining in the second quarter of the Suns' 99-96 loss.
Lopez will sit out the Suns' road game against the Portland Trail Blazers on Friday night.
After starting 56 of 67 games in 2010-11, Lopez has come off the bench in all 16 games this season, averaging 5.1 points and 3.5 rebounds in 14.9 minutes per game in 2011-12, his fourth season in the NBA.
