If it were just Mark Cuban who was supposed to meet with Barack Obama, he'd probably just BBM him or something. Maybe Siri would hook him up. But considering the Dallas Mavericks won the NBA title last season, and the custom is for league champions to meet with the sitting U.S. President, Cuban was forced to rely on the league to set up a meet-and-greet with Obeezy, and they came up short.
Mark Cuban Left To Own Devices To Schedule Mavericks Meet With Barack Obama
“It doesn’t change the fact that they didn’t (schedule) a game in DC for us,” the Mavericks owner wrote Tuesday in an email. “Given the compressed schedule it should have been more of a priority because they knew better than any of us how few days off we would have to do something.”
Cuban said Monday night in Dallas that “the league office was stupid or dumb or worse” to not schedule the defending champions in Washington so they could have the traditional trip to meet the president.
The league said a game in D.C. wouldn’t have guaranteed a meeting with the POTUS, and the Mavs will indeed have that meeting Jan. 9, tgaking credit for scheduling the visit. Cuban said the credit for doing so, though, was all his.
“We took the lead,” he wrote. “Obviously, we have to include the NBA in our plans.”
