Andray Blatche Could Miss 3-5 Weeks With Strained Calf

Wizards big man Andray Blatche could miss a month or more with a strained calf, interim head coach Randy Wittman announced Monday. Blatche left Saturday's win over the Bobcats early after experiencing tightness in the calf, and the resulting MRI revealed the severity of the injury.

"He's probably looking at, after the doctors looked at an MRI, maybe 3-5 weeks with a strain," Wittman said before Washington's home game against the Bulls. "He tweaked it pretty good in Charlotte, and obviously there's a lot of bleeding in there, which leads to the inflammation in the calf. We've got to get that out of there first, and then we'll have a better idea what we're looking at."

Blatche has struggled this year, averaging just 10.3 points while shooting just 38 percent from the field after averaging 16.8 points on 44.5 percent shooting last year. The Wizards, who have won only four of 20 games this season, play 18 games over the next five weeks.
