Bobcats Vs. Knicks: New York’s Big 3 Comes Up Big In Third Straight Win

Riding a monster night from their Big 3, the New York Knicks avenged last week's loss to the Charlotte Bobcats with a 91-87 win Monday night. The two teams are going in opposite directions: the Knicks have now won three straight since falling to Charlotte 118-110 last Wednesday, while the Bobcats have now lost three straight.

Amar'e Stoudemire led the charge with 25 points and 12 rebounds, Tyson Chandler scored 20 with 13 boards while Carmelo Anthony scored 22 with six assists. Stoudemire and Anthony struggled from the field -- collectively they shot just 13-for-43 (30.2 percent) -- but took advantage at the free-throw line, combining to shoot 20-for-26.

The Bobcats, meanwhile, were led by Boris Diaw, who scored 19 points with 10 rebounds and seven assists. D.J. White came off the bench to score 15 with seven boards. D.J. Augustin’s three-pointer with 10 seconds left brought the Bobcats within one, but Anthony responded with a pair of free throws on the ensuing possession. Augustin had a chance to tie the game with another attempt in the final seconds but missed. He finished with 12 points.

The Knicks improved to 5-4 on the season. They still trail the Philadelphia 76ers (6-2) in the Atlantic Division, but they have a chance to make up ground Wednesday when the Sixers travei to New York. The Bobcats, meanwhile, fell to 2-7 on the year, six games in back of the Miami Heat in the Southeast.
