Stephen Curry injury update: Warriors’ PG won’t play for rest of preseason

Stephen Curry will not play for the remainder of the preseason, reports Marcus Thompson of the Bay Area News Group. Golden State Warriors head coach Mark Jackson says that he isn't concerned about Curry's injured ankle, but doesn't believe the preseason is worth risking further injury.

Curry sustained the injury in Friday night’s preseason game, a 101-97 win over the Portland Trailblazers. Another player rolled up on his right ankle, the same one that was the source of so much trouble in the 2011-2012 season. After repeated ankle injuries, the franchise point guard had exploratory surgery to clear scar tissue and debris, causing him to miss 40 games.

Curry played in five preseason games, averaging 18.8 minutes and 12.2 points per game. Those are similar numbers to the career-lows he posted in 2011-2012, when he averaged 14.7 points per game.

Golden State finished the previous season 23-43, second from the bottom in the Pacific Division.
