Sunday’s NBA preseason scores: Lakers now 0-6

The Los Angeles Lakers fell to the Sacramento Kings in Dwight Howard’s L.A. debut.

The Los Angeles Lakers introduced their revamped starting lineup in full for the first time on Sunday night, but still dropped to 0-6 on the preseason after a 99-92 loss to the Sacramento Kings. Dwight Howard played 33 minutes, scoring 19 points while adding 12 rebounds and four blocks. He was rusty, though, as well -- he turned the ball over five times, shot only 3-8 from the free throw line and picked up four fouls. The Kings, meanwhile, used a team effort to defeat the Lakers -- 13 players saw game action, with none scoring more than 16 points.

L.A. will be gunning for the Western Conference crown currently held by the Oklahoma City Thunder, who defeated the Denver Nuggets, 108-101. Neither Kevin Durant (16 points, 6-13 shooting) or Russell Westbrook (11 points, 4-13 shooting) played particularly well on the night, but James Harden and Serge Ibaka both added 16 points, which was enough to take down a Denver team led by Danilo Gallinari's 26 points.

The San Antonio Spurs, another Western Conference contender, were in Florida, where they lost to the Orlando Magic, 104-100. Both teams emptied their benches, as 27 total players saw game action. San Antonio shot only 40 percent from the floor, ultimately dooming them.

The Philadelphia 76ers and Boston Celtics reprised their 2012 playoff matchup at the Garden, with Philly securing a typically low-scoring 88-79 victory. The most notable development of the night involved Sixers guard Evan Turner, who left the game with a sprained ankle.
