Adam Morrison, the No. 3 overall selection of the 2006 NBA Draft, will be waived by the Portland Trail Blazers this weekend, according to Comcast Sports Net. Morrison has struggled to stick with a team since his rookie year, playing for the Bobcats, Lakers and now the Blazers.

The former No. 3 pick will be waived by yet another NBA franchise this weekend. He has considered retirement in the past.

Morrison said earlier in the summer that he would seriously consider retiring if he did not make Portland’s roster to start the year. Now that he is no longer with the team, he will talk to his agent and discuss the next step. Morrison had a strong first game of the preseason with nine points in just 11 minutes, but struggled to find playing time afterwards.
“I want to thank the Blazers’ organization for giving me a chance,” Morrison told CSNNW.com. “I’m sorry things didn’t work out, but I wish them nothing but success. Right now, I’m just going to talk to my agent and see where to go from here.”
It’s been a rough transition to the NBA for Morrison. After a couple of strong seasons in college with the Gonzaga Bulldogs, the 6’8 forward has averaged just 7.5 points and 20 minutes a game. These numbers are inflated from his rookie season though, and he has started just five times since 2007.
